KHMER sind besonders: Der Name. Der Gesang komplett in Spanisch. Die Texte liegen in englischer und japanischer (!) Übersetzung bei. Die Musik ist weit weg von Metal, anders, ungewohnt, aber dennoch unglaublich hart, treibend und brutal.

KHMER sind einzigartig. Abwechslungsreich. Interessant. Und viel mehr kann man ja über Musik nicht sagen. Die Songs preschen zumeist ultraschnell voran, das Schlagzeug macht unglaublich viel, und dabei unglaublich viel richtig. D-Beat, Fills, Breaks, Blastbeat, irrwitzig, kontrolliert, sich überschlagend, dabei stets präzise wie ein Skalpell. Beeindruckend. Die Gitarren riffen hart, fett, immer aggressiv, wütend, und doch stets auf den Punkt, exakt, scharf, fokussiert. Darüber veranstaltet Señor Mario C. Vaises ein wahres Stimminferno, das ist zumeist heftiges und angepisstes Kreischen, Wüten, Randalieren, nie nachlassend, immer volle Energie, immer am Anschlag.

Das alles ergibt eine Mischung, die fesselt, die fordert, und die belohnt. Die Songs sind komplex, auch mal frickelig, aber verlieren nie den roten Faden. Alles klingt bekannt, und doch jedesmal gänzlich neu. Anspieltipp ist der Auftakt „Larga sombra (I, II)“, der gleichzeitg eingängig wie innovativ wie verschlungen wie klar wie vieldeutig wie schön ist. Und dann kommen da zwei bewegende und berührende Instrumentalstücke, die mal so gänzlich anders sind als die sonst üblichen Lückenfüller: Das hier hat Sinn, „Corriendo tras el fuego…“ bremst den Wahnsinn ein in eine stoische Monotonie aus Trauer und Melancholie, die „… para ver el mundo arder“ am Ende nochmals aufgreift und uns Hörer aus der Aggression in pure und ewige Verzweiflung verstoßend zurücklässt. Wer Referenzen sucht, wird sie hier nicht finden,  und doch würde ich unter Zwang sagen: Das klingt wie Kvelertak in einer Gummizelle auf Speed!

Fazit: KHMER legen mit „Larga Sombra“ ein Werk vor, das aus Schnelligkeit, Härte, Komplexität und Brutaldynamik Musik erschafft, die fesselt, berührt und mitreißt. Hier gibt es unglaublich viel zu entdecken – vor allem die Erkenntnis, dass Töne gemacht sind für Herzen und Seelen. Ganz große Empfehlung!

KHMER are unique. Diversified. Interesting. And you can not say much more about music. Most of the songs are really fast forward, the drums are incredibly powerful and incredibly correct. Fast, D-Beat, Fills, Breaks, Blastbeat, insane, controlled, flipping over, always as precise as a scalpel. Impressive. The guitars rapped hard, fat, fast, always aggressive, angry, and yet always to the point, accurate, sharp, focused. In addition Señor Mario C. Vaises organizes a true Vocalinferno, which is usually violent and petted shrieking, raging, rioting, never faltering, always full of energy, always at the point of no return.

All this results in a mix that captivates, that demands, and that rewards. The songs are complex, sometimes fricky, but never lose the thread. Everything sounds familiar, and yet completely new each time. Reference song is „Larga sombra (I, II)“, which is both catchy, innovative, devious, clear, ambiguous, beautiful. And then there are two moving and touching instrumental pieces that are sometimes so completely different from the usual gap fillers: this has meaning, „Corriendo tras el fuego …“ slows down the madness in a stoic monotony of sadness and melancholy, and „para ver el mundo arder“ at the end picks up again and leaves us listeners out of aggression in pure and eternal despair. If you are looking for references, you will not find them here, and yet I would say under duress: That sounds like Kvelertak in a pad on speed!

Conclusion: KHMER present with „Larga Sombra“ a work that creates speed, hardness, complexity and brutal dynamics to music that touches and captivates. There is so much to discover here – especially the realization that sounds are made for hearts and souls. Very great recommendation!
