Canadian black/folk metal band Цар Стангра (Tsar Stangra) is set to release their new single, „Черна песен“ on March 1, 2023, through Eastern Hammer Production. The single’s name translates to „Black/Dark Song“ in Bulgarian and features lyrics by Bulgarian poet Dimcho Debelyanov.
The band used the life and death metaphors of the poem to create a concept around the single, as depicted in the accompanying image. The artwork features a dead Haiduk with roses emerging from his injured entrails, lying on a valley of roses, symbolizing the Valley of Roses of Bulgaria. The Bulgarian flag is formed by the white sky, green mountains, and red valley. Some of the ancient Slavic pagan gods are also depicted in the clouds of the sky, watching the dead hero. The motif used for the frame is the life motif.
